Head Instructor - Will Figgins

Greetings, I'm Will Figgins, the head instructor of Black Dragon Jeet Kune Do Academy. I'm a certified second generation Jeet Kune Do Instructor, and I hold a Blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I've been in the martial arts for over 20 years in some form or another. My true passion is JKD and BJJ, but I've studied many arts and they have all given me an appreciation of Martial Arts in general. I respect any martial artist regardless of style or system. We all train for different reasons, but all share common goals; the improvment of our bodies, mind and spirit via the martial ways.

I have instructorships in JKD from Lamar Davis of Hardcore Jeet Kune Do and Jerry Poteet, an original Bruce Lee student. Both men absolutely know what JKD is, how to teach it and how to allow the student to develop their own abilities through their guidance. I owe them both a lot of respect and honor, and give it freely.

In addition to my training with the above mentioned instructors, I have been studying under Steve Golden, also an original Bruce Lee student. Steve has shown and helped me understand aspects of martial arts I never considered before. His teachings go beyond the scope of Jeet Kune Do, or any art. He is a true master of martial arts, human nature, and is a great human being. I think he really got the lesson Bruce was teaching on "honestly expressing oneself". Steve is an amazing person, mentor and teacher. Words cannot do him justice.

My Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor is Chris "Cowboy" Kelbaugh of BJJ Revolution Team and Pacific Beach Fight Center in. He is currently a brown belt under 3rd degree black belt Rodrigo Medeiros. Chris as an awesome coach, a true friend, and a great father and husband. I truly respect him, and am honored to be a member of his competition team "Cowboy Jiu-Jitsu Team".

Assistant Instructor - Blake Lazzeroni

Hi, I'm Blake Lazzeroni. I've been training Jeet Kune Do for over 3 years and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for about as long. I hold a Tan belt in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and a brown belt in Kuro Tatsu Do. I also study Japanese swordmanship, and have a strong interest in combative/reality self defense. It is my honor to be an assistant instructor at Black Dragon Jeet Kune Do Academy. I hope to get the chance to train with you!
